Fluent

Chat · Calls · Files Klepet · Klici · Datoteke

Meetings where nobody has to speak your language.

Everyone writes and speaks in their own. Everyone reads and hears their own. Nobody switches to English out of politeness, and nobody quietly stops contributing because it is hard work in a second language.

Free to run on your own machine. No account needed to try it.

The quietest person in the meeting is usually the one thinking hardest.

They are translating in their head, a sentence behind, and by the time they have the words the moment has passed. It reads as agreement. It is not.

Everything below exists to remove that lag.

See it working Poglejte, kako deluje

Sixty seconds, or the whole thing in two and a half minutes.

The full tour walks through all twenty chapters — chat, calls, live captions, formatted messages, tables, polls, checklists, times across zones, isolation and billing. Click any chapter in the reel to jump straight to the part you care about, or take the short cut if you have a minute rather than three.

How it actually works Kako to deluje

Nobody configures a pair of languages.

With five people that would be twenty settings, and somebody would get one wrong. Each person says once what they read. Everything else follows.

01

Each person picks their language

In their own settings, the day they join. That is the entire setup, and it is the only language question anybody is ever asked.

Eleven languages today. The interface itself is in English, Slovenian and German.

02

Chat is translated as it is sent

Once per language in the room, not once per person — so six people reading three languages costs three translations, and everybody sees the same words rather than six slightly different ones.

Names, product terms and tags are held back, so they arrive exactly as they were typed.

03

Calls listen to each microphone separately

Not one mixed recording pulled apart afterwards. Two people talking at once are two clean streams, so crosstalk does not confuse it and nobody is mislabelled.

Each listener's captions arrive in their own language, and the transcript is saved the way you read it.

The original never disappears

A translation you cannot check is a translation you have to trust. Every message keeps what was actually typed, one tap underneath — so when a number looks wrong, somebody can look.

Perfect. I'll add the pricing sheet first. Perfekt. Ich füge vorher die Preisliste hinzu.

Captions arrive per person, not per room

One person speaks; four people read four different languages at the same moment. Nobody waits for an interpreter and nobody reads a language they do not have.

One company cannot reach another

Each company's conversations, files and people live in their own database file. Not a column somebody has to remember to filter on — a separate file, which is a much harder thing to get wrong.

Vipava d.o.o.vipava.db
Weber GmbHweber.db
Ferrari S.r.l.ferrari.db

113 tests exist purely to try to read one as another.

And everything else In vse ostalo

Talking

  • Teams and channels, direct messages, renamable groups
  • Mentions, reactions, replies, mark as unread
  • Your own emoji, per company
  • Spell-check that knows your names

Meeting

  • Screen sharing and remote control, with consent
  • Recording, announced before it starts
  • A real calendar — a time grid, not a list
  • Transcripts you can save as a file

Working

  • Files company-wide or one to one
  • Presence that tells the truth
  • Guests on a link — no account, no download
  • 26 themes, light and dark

Running it

  • Your server, on one ordinary machine
  • Translation on-device by default
  • Azure when you want the quality
  • Usage and invoices per company

Why this is not vapour Zakaj nam lahko zaupate

Claims you can check, rather than adjectives.

Anyone can put a landing page up. These are either true or falsifiable, and you are welcome to test every one before committing anything.

1,801

Automated checks, 29 suites

Run on every change. A hundred and thirteen exist purely to try to read one company's data as another, and they fail the build if they ever succeed.

Your box

It runs on your own hardware

An old desktop is enough. Nothing is hosted by us unless you ask, so there is no "what happens to our data if you go under" conversation to have.

Offline

Translation without the cloud

The default engine runs on your machine. No message leaves the building unless you switch a company onto Azure — and then it is metered, so you can see exactly what left.

No lock-in

The data stays yours

Each company is one ordinary SQLite file on your disk. Back it up, copy it, read it with any tool, walk away with it. Nothing about leaving is a negotiation.

And here is what it does not do yet — published, because every vendor lists strengths
  • Not signed The Windows installer carries no code-signing certificate yet, so SmartScreen will warn the first person who runs it. A certificate is on the way; until then, that warning is expected and we would rather tell you now.
  • Weaker Speech recognition is measurably worse for Slovenian than for English or German — there is less training data. Headsets rather than laptop microphones make more difference than anything we can do in software.
  • Not solved One laptop in a meeting room with five people around it produces one merged transcript. Captions work per device, so everybody joining from their own laptop is the arrangement it is good at.
  • In review The German interface has not yet been read by a native speaker. It is translated, and it will be reviewed before we sell into a German-speaking company.
  • Windows The desktop app and the server are Windows-first. The browser works anywhere, including phones — that is the whole product minus the desktop notifications.

Get it Prenesite

Two builds. Neither needs anything installed first.

The app talks to a Fluent server. Point it at one somebody already runs, or set one up yourself in about twenty minutes.

Windows installer recommended

Adds a Start-menu entry, a desktop shortcut and an uninstaller. Installs for you only, so it needs no administrator rights.

Windows 10/11 64-bit · about 78 MB

Download the installer

Portable no install

One file. Runs from a USB stick, writes nothing to the registry, leaves nothing behind. Useful for a locked-down machine.

Windows 10/11 64-bit · about 78 MB · nothing installed

Download the portable build

Or use it in a browser — nothing to install, and the same app: open Fluent. A phone works too, for chat and for reading along in a call.

Windows will warn you, and that is expected

The build is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen shows "Windows protected your PC". Choose More info → Run anyway. We would rather say this here than have you meet it unprepared — and we are buying a certificate, because teaching your staff to click through security warnings is a bad habit to hand them.

Prefer not to install anything? The whole product runs in a browser — every feature above except the desktop notifications.

For whoever runs the network Za skrbnika omrežja

One machine, one afternoon.

Fluent is a server you run. Everything below is what it needs, and — just as usefully — what it does not.

The machine
Windows 10 or 11, about 2 GB of free disk, wired network if you can. An old desktop is genuinely enough — the app is 3 MB, the prerequisites are the bulk.
Prerequisites
Python 3.11+ for the server. Docker only if you want calls — chat, files, calendar and translation all work without it.
How people reach it
Over your LAN, or from anywhere behind nginx or Caddy with a real certificate. Browsers only grant microphone access on a secure origin, so HTTPS is not optional for calls.
Where the data sits
SQLite files on that machine. One file per company. Message bodies are encrypted at rest with a key you keep separately.
Several companies
One server hosts as many as you like, each with its own file, join code, roster and admin. A master console creates them and decides which paid features each gets.
What it does not need
No Microsoft 365 tenant, no Active Directory, no per-seat cloud subscription, and no outbound connection at all unless you switch a company onto cloud translation.
Backups
manage.py backup copies every database live, using SQLite's own backup API rather than a file copy that can land mid-transaction.

Everyone in their own language.

Try it on one team for a fortnight. If people stop switching to English out of politeness, you will know within a week.
